The Haier NuCool isn't a true refrigerator since it doesn't have a compressor. Rather, this mini fridge uses a thermoelectric mechanism to cool the interior, achieving a possible low temperature of 37 degrees Fahrenheit. The problem is that the cooler can only maintain this temperature if ambient room temperatures remain below 70 degrees Fahrenheit. That makes this model an iffy choice for storing leftovers or other perishables since the fridge may not be able to keep foods under 40 degrees (as recommended by the U.S. Department of Agriculture). However, if space is your main consideration and you just want a place to keep soda or beer cool (but probably not super cold), owners say the Haier C-RNU1708 works okay. This cube-shaped fridge has just 1.7 cubic feet of interior space, so it won't hold much. For the same money, you could opt for the Haier HNSB02 (Discontinued), a true refrigerator with the same compact size and a small freezer compartment.
The Haier mini fridge isn't included in any professional reviews, but we found lots of feedback from owners posting to Walmart.com, many of whom are happy with this small beverage cooler in their office or dorm room.
