Reviews praise the Ridgid MS1065LZA as the best value among 10-inch compound miter saws, which can cut up to two-by-six lumber. Reviews like the all-metal build and lifetime warranty, and say this miter saw has excellent accuracy, fit and finish, as well as user-friendly features such as an erasable fence. This newest version has an adjustable laser, and like the earlier Ridgid MS1065LZ, bevels and miters beyond 45 degrees -- especially useful for remodeling, where you may need to fit boards to odd angles. If you need to cut a lot of vertical molding, however, consider the DeWalt DW713 (*est. $220), though it lacks a laser guide.
The Ridgid MS1065LZA has an adjustable laser, but we found reviews only of the older Ridgid MS1065LZ -- identical except for a nonadjustable laser guide. We found the best review at Consumer Reports magazine, where it's ranked in comparison with 11 other compound miter saws based on objective tests. Two single-product reviews at ConsumerGuide.com and Homeowner's Blog add still more details; the latter review is based on two years of use.

The reviewer, known only as "Paul," praises the Ridgid MS 1065LZ for remodeling and building projects and notes that plumbers use it for cutting PVC pipe -- but notes that the size limits it to cutting two-by-six lumber.
