Only worked for 1 season, August 29, 2009
I purchased the Skeeter Vac 2704 last March 08. It worked pretty well the first summer (though you should put it in the shade for best results). Now this summer I noticed the fan was not working. I took it apart to clean and still no fan. I am not sure if I will purchase a new fan or a different product. A little disappointed. It should have lasted at least 3 - 5 years minimum for the price.
SKEETERVAC REPAIR, August 23, 2009

The SV-15 caught a few mosquitoes a couple years ago and tried it again this year. After trying it without the filter and after using compressed air on the line, as recommended by support, i took the whole thing apart. I took the combustion chambers apart, which had some insulation that we assume is not asbestos. But that was unnecessary. There is something that works as a spark plug that is inserted into the combustion chamber. It is held in place by a clamp. I unscrewed the clamp, pulled it out and cleaned the end. I tested to make sure that it fires, and put everything back together. It worked immediately. I replaced the filter, but it probably is ok. When taking the unit apart, there is some resistance caused by the gas pipe inside the unit. Remove the resistance by disconnecting the line from the combustion chamber and from the unit. It would be useful if the skeervacs used a spark plug that is accessible from the outside. My weed whacker did not start up and i just cleaned the spark plug and it started right up. If not, you just buy a new plug. I'm not one who is knowledgeable about this sort of thing, but i am "handy" around the house and learn by trial and error.

Save your money buy a fly swat, it'll work better, July 21, 2008

I had this thing (the skeeter vac model CPSV3100 for 1 acre), $315.00 I plunked down for it and the tac-traps(which by the way caught a lot a bugs, just none of them were mosquitos). I put it in a spot in my back yard where I got bit the most often and sat right beside it with mosquitos eating me alive. I left the piece of junk in that very spot for a week and it caught 3 mosquitos, hardly worth the effort. Just while I was dismantling it alone I got bit more times than I can count, so believe me mosquitos were there in abundance. My advice is to buy some more citronela candles, they work better. I don't know how they get good reviews for this, they must be hiring them, if it don't catch mosquitos by accident in my back yard it is a peice of junk in my opinion. I sent it back to Amazon the next day. Bob Wright 440-396-8037

Have been through two systems in 3 years - don't recommend, June 26, 2008

I live in Atlanta and had very high hopes in these units. First, for the price and features it's a much better deal vs. Mosquito Magnet. I couldn't imagine having to run a cord through the yard, having to mow around it with the mosquito magnet. Thus, I tried the Skeetervac. Long story short, I received a replacement unit after first time of use two summers ago. They never told me what they thought was wrong with it, and after 2-3 times back/forth with customer care, they shipped me a replacement unit (no questions asked). Last summer, I didn't use it - didn't need it as mosquitos were low. I kept the unit in storage room in our basement. Now, I'm into this summer and need to run the new unit they shipped me. It won't start just like the older unit they replaced. The battery has been replaced, and it's clicking creating an ignition, but no "pop" to light the propane that is flowing into it. There's a fundamental design flaw/issue in these units, and I'm waiting for SkeeterVac to acknowledge this. It's either that or a major liability waiting to happen when the unit explodes after someone holds down the ignition for 20 minutes (instead of 20 sec like they tell you). I'm an honest user trying to get what I hoped would be a good product - unfortunately, I'm now going to try to get my second replacement from Skeetervac. I do not recommend, and am sorry to write this review. My intent is to try pesticides/spray to control until I'm successful in a replacement unit. P.S. The unit I had was a 2704.

pretty good, June 4, 2008
I was a little worried from the reviews listed, however I must say, so far, sooo goood. It is attracting I am assuming adult female mosquitos. The light is still working. All is good! I would buy from this seller again.
