Powered by propane and one AA battery, the SkeeterVac SV3100 offers a major advantage -- it's cordless. Like the Mosquito Magnet Liberty (*Est. $500), it needs a propane tank that produces carbon dioxide to attract mosquitoes -- other lures that can be used are water vapor, heat, LED lighting and octenol. When mosquitoes approach the trap, a fan and vacuum suck them in. Lurex can be used if Asian tiger mosquitoes, which are prevalent in the southern United States, are an issue. Those who don't want to deal with the ongoing expense of buying propane may want to consider the Mega-Catch Ultra (*Est. $500), which is substantially more expensive.

We found no research studies focusing on the SkeeterVac SV3100 -- most of them concentrate on the Mosquito Magnet line. However, we found owner reviews at Amazon.com, NorthlineExpress.com and Epinions.com.
