The Canon Pixma MG5220 belongs to the same line as the top-rated Pixma MG8120 (*Est. $225). It doesn't include as many features as its high-end cousin: it can't do film scans, for instance, and its scanning resolution is lower. The printer also has a smaller LCD screen (only 2.4 inches), fewer ink colors and no Ethernet connectivity. However, reviewers say the Pixma MG5220 offers the same superb photo quality as the MG8120, and its print speeds are pretty good. Users say its scan quality is also very good, despite the lower resolution. On the downside, the MG5220 printer has the same drawbacks as the more expensive MG8120: no fax, no automatic document feeder and heavy ink usage. If you need higher-quality scans and a wider range of options, you might prefer the MG8120 or the mid-range model, the Canon Pixma MG6120.
