Price becomes a significant factor in evaluating the performance of sub-$100 multifunction inkjet printers. The Canon Pixma MP470 had good reviews in its day, although it's since been replaced by the Canon Pixma MP480 (*Est. $110). Reviews on the latter say it's basically the same machine -- printer, copier, scanner and no fax. Regarding the older Pixma MP470, experts are unanimously impressed with extensive photo-printing options. And although there's less consensus on output quality, all concede that it's a good printer considering the low price. Photos are described as crisp, with decent color reproduction. Reports of text quality vary from acceptable to outstanding.

CNET and PC World offer detailed reviews based on thorough testing for free. ConsumerReports.org offers the most convenient format, a chart ranking about 40 printers and links to short reviews, but a subscription is required. Users at Amazon.com offer a glimpse into real-world use of the Pixma MP470.
