Canon Pixma MP470

I purchased this all-in-one printer about 13 months ago. It has been a pretty good printer. The picture quality could use some improvement but overall it is OK. Printing envelopes is nearly impossible… and I received an error code that requires maintenace and unfortunately the one year warranty was up so I am trashing this printer. The ink is more expensive than the HP printers. So, I am left with a printer that doesn't work and I am going back to my "old faithful" an HP printer. Please use caution when purchasing this printer. Hindsight 20/20 I should have purchased an HP instead but I am cheap and went for the less expensive printer.

I have had the MP600 model for two years and loved it. However, I'm submitting this review as a warning for future Canon Pixma owners. We were on vacation for 4 weeks and when we returned yesterday the… printer failed to work. I called tech support and was told that the printer heads will dry out if not used for several weeks and that I should always have someone come to house while we are gone to run the printer. A babysitter for the printer! We tried all of the cleaning procedures, which didn't do anything, and finally the rep (who was very nice) said that, in fact, she had never seen the cleaning process work. They would give me a discount on a new printer, but why would I want another Canon? I'm deeply disappointed over this, as I loved it when it worked. Meanwhile, I have a bunch of new ink cartridges to give away.
