Reviewers aren't crazy about the high price of the Canon Pixma MX7600, but they generally agree that it produces excellent photo prints. This multifunction inkjet printer uses six inks, including a clear one that can turn plain paper into a reasonable rendering of a glossy print. However, some reviewers say this printer can't do an equally good job with documents. Although some reviewers describe the built-in fax as very good fax, others consider the scanning and copying functions to be subpar. Also, quite a number of owners say they are peeved that the ink is unavailable except online. If you're looking for something cheaper, Canon's Pixma MX882 (*Est. $150) packs in features and earns good reviews. If you don't care about faxing and just want great photos, consider the Canon Pixma MG8120 (*Est. $225).
We found many reviews for this printer in computer-related publications, including PCMag.com, PC Advisor, CNET, HardwareCentral.com, PC Pro and PC World magazine. Most of these publications do thorough testing and assign overall scores that make it easy to see how the Canon Pixma MX7600 rates against the competition. There is also a detailed set of test results at ConsumerReports.org, but the individual review is short and a subscription is required. There are nearly three dozen owner reviews at Amazon.com and many point out that you can't usually get the ink in a store.
