The Canon Pixma MX882 is a modestly priced multifunction printer with a wide variety of features. In addition to a built-in fax, it has a 35-page automatic document feeder (ADF) that can also print double-sided pages, plus a 3-inch color LCD, a memory card reader, PictBridge connectivity and both Ethernet and wireless networking capabilities. Its five separate ink tanks (four dye-based inks plus a pigment-based black) produce superior text and photo quality, although some reviewers say its graphics and photocopy quality are merely okay. Compared to other inkjets, its speed is reasonable but not exceptional: about 11 pages per minute (ppm) for black-and-white text and just over a minute for a 4-by-6-inch photo. If $150 is a bit more than you're prepared to spend, the Brother MFC-J825DW (*Est. $115) offers a lot of features -- including a fax machine -- for less money, but its print quality is not considered as good.
The Canon Pixma MX882 gets thorough reviews from PCMag.com, ConsumerReports.org and PC World Australia, each of which performs speed and output tests. It also receives over 200 comments from users at Amazon.com, most of them highly positive.
