Problems slow down my entire computer, November 18, 2009Really, I would strongly suggest you not buy this!!! I would have given 0 stars if possible. It installs OK. But once I turn off my computer and turn it back on again, the printer constantly turns itself… offline, then goes back to ready status. It slows down everything else I am doing -- from email to Word documents when it is doing this. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the product numerous times. I spent months emailing back and forth with tech support. I have tried online chats that go unanswered, as do phone calls. Bottom line: The printer still DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY AFTER 3 MONTHS OF EFFORT! I would also not buy another HP. period.
Bad Value, November 17, 2009Just "upgraded" from an old T45 OfficeJet. The Pros: -Nice footprint -Wireless connection seems to work well The Cons: -Any print cartridge estimates are a a fraud. Expect to get about 150 pages from a… basic cartridge and maybe 350 from an XL. New cartridges are $30 for XL, so factor that into your price comparisons -The HP software made my laptop boot very slowly (it runs in the startup folder by default) -The paper feed jams quite often -The scanner feeder seems to jam more than my T45 did If I had it to do again, I wouldn't have bothered. My old printer was better.
They should pay you to take this, November 14, 2009HP Printer, November 13, 2009Beware Software Issues!!, November 4, 2009I have been an HP customer for as long as I can remember - but buying this product has turned me completely of to the product and the HP company. There is a major problem installing the HP software that… comes with the printer. I am using XP Professional and the installation hangs up at the "restore" portion of the program. I went on the HP site, downloaded the latest software package and found hte problem on the support site along with a 3 page - 3 step "fix" to the problem. To make a long and frustrating story short, after a phone call to HP tech support and 8 hours of attempting ot get the software to load, I returned the unit and replaced it with an S600 from Lexmark. The Lexmark installed without any problems and is working perfectly - I am impressed with the level of quality of the Lexmark and as a result of all these problems with HP I will be changing over to Lexmark for all my future printer needs.

Macworld provides its testing results and finds the HP Officejet J4680 to be generally good and packed with features, although it's slow and has no duplex printing. Also, the color won't be as accurate with four inks as a six-ink printer would be.

PC World not only tests and reviews printers, it also gives a transparent look at the lab tests. The HP Officejet J4680 is judged "good" for a small office that doesn't need a lot of prints, because it's slow. The list of cons refers to costly inks, but the actual review says the costs are reasonable.
