Pros
  • Cheaper than most multivitamins
  • Has iron and folic acid for premenopausal women
Cons
  • Too much iron for men

Walgreens Advanced Formula A Thru Z multivitamins cost much less than rivals like Centrum from A to Zinc (*Est. $17.50 for 250 tablets), yet they also contain the folic acid and vitamin A needed by women of childbearing age. The Walgreens multivitamins contain 18 mg of iron -- most say that's too much for men and post-menopausal women, who don't generally need supplemental iron, but it's a good choice for premenopausal women who lose iron during menstrual cycles. Top brands and major store brands are essentially equally reliable, according to experts, and your choice in vitamins should depend on which blend of nutrients is best for you. If you're older than 50, reviews recommend Kirkland Signature Mature Multi 50+ (*Est. $13 for 400 tablets), which has more B12 for seniors.
