Reviews say Intuit Quicken 2008 Deluxe personal finance software offers extensive online bill payment and bill-management services and also lets you track all your finances. You can pay bills online through Quicken, although it costs an extra $10 per month to pay up to ten bills per month. Even though this is expensive, one plus is that your transactions are recorded in the software as part of a total plan to manage your money. Quicken works with over 5,300 financial institutions, including PayPal, and you can also make online payments using Quicken with your iPhone. Experts say Quicken is overkill if you just want to pay some bills online, but it's worth trying if you already own it or want to manage your finances as a whole. For bill paying that's free, reviewers recommend online bill payment through your bank (free).
We found the best general information about online bill payment at Consumer Reports. There are a lot of reviews of Quicken, but they mostly focus on its overall use as accounting software rather than as an online bill-paying service specifically. These are less helpful, but we've included one from CNet.com. StarReviews addresses Quicken specifically as a bill-paying service, but this review is mostly a description of features. Quicken and the competing Microsoft Money are discussed more thoroughly in our separate report on accounting software.
