Logitech USB Headset H530 Review

PC headset for VoIP

Pros
  • Good audio quality
  • Can be used for music, video
Cons
  • May be uncomfortable for some
  • Not recommended for gaming

Finding reviews of VoIP-focused PC headsets is difficult, but a bevy of users say that the Logitech USB Headset H530 is the VoIP headset to beat thanks to its outstanding audio.

Class-leading sound quality

A VoIP headset can't compete with a gaming headset or dedicated headphones when it comes to audio chops, but users say the Logitech H530's laser-tuned 31 mm neodymium drivers deliver a sound that's vastly superior to other VoIP headsets; many people even use it for gaming and movie watching. The headset's super wideband audio technology makes chatting on Skype sound much more clear and natural than calls on other headsets, users report. Voices also sound clean coming through the noise-filtering microphone.

Plug and play

The Logitech H530 is simple to hook up and use via its USB connector. On-ear controls let you quickly make volume tweaks on the fly.

Reasonably comfortable for most

Comfort is an issue with many VoIP headsets, but overall, users seem pretty happy with the design of the Logitech H530. The plush padded ear cups and cushioned adjustable headband help to keep the number of discomfort complaints down, though some grouse that the headphones are a hair on the heavy side.

Built to last, owners say

Several user reviewers report that the construction quality of the Logitech H530 is solid. Reading through the available feedback, we didn't spot any breakage reports.

Cheaper VoIP headsets available, but few better

Value-wise, the Logitech H530 is a bit of a toss-up; if you don't want to use your VoIP headset for media watching and don't plan on using it for extended bouts, you can find cheaper headsets. Even so, the budget VoIP headset that gets the most accolades, the Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000 (*Est. $25), only costs $15 less than the well-liked Logitech H530.

Finding feedback

As noted, professional reviewers have yet to spend any time with the Logitech USB Headset H530. Users have, however, and hundreds leave their opinions on Amazon.com, Newegg.com and BestBuy.com.
