February 2009. Reviewers at PC Magazine, Brighthand and MobileTechReview.com are surprised and impressed by HP's newly released iPAQ 210 PDA (also sold directly through HP as the iPAQ 211) for incorporating the latest technology in a sleek package with a high resolution 4-inch color touch screen, speedy processor, ample memory and long-lasting battery life. It's also Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled and equipped with the latest Windows Mobile 6 with pocket versions of Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Brighthand's Adama Brown says, "The iPAQ is pretty hard to beat" despite its big price tag. The Palm TX (*est. $260) and Tungsten E2 (*est. $190) are cheaper alternatives, but have not been updated in years. If you don't need the dazzle of a 4-inch screen and want to save more than a $100, check out the iPAQ 110 (*est. $265). This less expensive sibling to the iPAQ 210 boasts the same speedy processor, lots of memory and the same Microsoft Office software in a pocket-sized package.
PC Magazine, Brighthand and MobileTechReview.com all conduct thorough series of tests to measure speed, performance and battery life, but Brighthand delves deepest into the technical specifications of the hardware and software.

Although PC Magazine's Jamie Lendino believes that the PDA market is dead, Lendino recommends the iPAQ 210 for those consumers who still want a standalone PDA without phone features. Lendino gives the iPAQ a four-star rating (out of a possible five) and says the "iPAQ 210 will serve with aplomb."

Brighthand's Adama Brown is completely won over by the iPAQ. "The iPAQ is hard to beatÉ provides more power and flexibility than pretty much anything else its size, and it does so with style." Brown acknowledges that it's possible to purchase an ultra-mini notebook for less than the cost of the iPAQ 210, but adds that "what you can't do with them is slip them in your pocket."
