Not reliable!! DON'T BUY!!!, November 15, 2009
For the first few months when it still works it's pretty good. Almost everyone I know had a very bad experience with this less than half a year after buying it. Feeling lucky? Otherwise don't waste your money because it will die on you one way or another.
If you do have a problem don't even think of getting customer service that is actually helpful.

Started out with a Palm Tungsten TE. Got a new home computer with Vista. Palm Tungsten TE won't sync on Vista. Got the TX and not only will it sync with Vista, it has twice the features and the wi-fi connection is awesome. Works well with a wireless network. Love this little thing!
Don't buy Palm!!!, November 1, 2009

This is the third Palm I had over 7 years. The more advanced Palm gets the worse they get. Less than six months after I got my fancy new TX my digitizer went. I call this slick advanced company, right? Wrong! I get some girl who can't speak English and insists she does when I asked to be transfered to someone who I can communicate with. Finally, I sent it in under the year warranty. They sent it back with the digitizer fixed, but with a new problem. The on/off button doesn't work right. So I have a choice of shelling out for shipping again and managing without my Palm or turning it on with one of the other buttons and setting the automatic shut off. OK so what do you thing I choose? Then about a week after the year warranty was up it really went on the blink. Now I needed my on/off button to work so I can do a hard reset. Well I finally get it on a random time that it decided to work but that didn't help. Gradually it got worse and worse. Eventually about 14 months after I shelled out a hefty piece of change for this aggravation it totally died. I sympathize with those of you who are still used to the Palm system, but do yourself a big favor buy something from a different company!!! By the way I know a number of people who also had the TX and had major problems with it and gave up on Palm. One more thing. A note to all those who reviewed the TX positively right after they got it, mine was also great and impressive when I first got it. If you really want to help people rewrite your review after using it for a year. It will most likely be a different review.

Palm TX Works, October 28, 2009

After having lost my faithful Sony pda to water damage (lesson: stay away from pools unless you're there to swim), I did a lot of research to find a replacement on a budget. I chose the Palm TX based on my desire for a handheld computer, on various professional and private reviews, and finally, on price. The used TX that I purchased has worked out fine -- living up to its reviews. Yes, as they say, the battery life is fair to poor. I find that it's consumed most rapidly by being on the internet; other typical uses do not deplete it too badly at all. Overall I'm very pleased with it and would recommend it to others.

Student Review of the Palm T|X, October 24, 2009

This is my third palm and I love it. The ability to check my email anywhere on campus is fantastic. I have only two complaints... 1. Every now and then the device will get jammed and it will require resetting the device with the button on the back. 2. Palm blazer the web browser does not do a very good job reproducing large and complex web pages. Other than these small flaws I think that the Palm T|X is a great device.

Our Sources

1. CNET

CNet.com says it doesn't consider PDAs obsolete and still updates this top-five list. Unfortunately, the original reviews for each PDA listed were done three to five years ago. The Palm TX still remains the highest-rated PDA because of its price, large color screen and host of features, including Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. There's also a full review, video and about 300 owner ratings.

2. PCMag.com

PC Magazine gives an Editors' Choice award to the Palm TX with the major negative being stingy battery life (tested at four hours with the Wi-Fi off). Otherwise, there's a large screen, a good browser and reasonable price.

3. MobileTechReview.com

These thorough reviews are based on hands-on use and raise good questions like why Palm won't make the battery user-replaceable (because the PDA would have to be larger). Lisa Gade's review gives the Palm TX a score of four out of five, praising the display and ease of use.

4. ConsumerReports.org

Although Consumer Reports bases its ratings on hands-on tests, just 10 PDAs are rated. The Palm TX is included in tests and is rated for ease of use, battery life, display quality and other factors. All but two of the tested PDAs are ultimately recommended by editors.

5. Amazon.com

Well over 650 owner reviews combine to give the Palm TX a good average score; more than two-thirds rate it four or the maximum five stars. Some of the negative reviews indicate the Palm TX has been a rogue gadget in their pockets, rebooting itself or turning itself off or on.
