Where to Buy

Reviewers say Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 is the best photo-editing software for most users. It's not as powerful as its big brother, Adobe Photoshop CS6 (Est. $700), but it offers many of the same tools for a fraction of the price. Photoshop Elements is also much easier to use than the full version of Photoshop, and a new feature called "guided edits" provides users with step-by-step instructions for performing advanced edits.

Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 is available for both Macs and PCs, and it includes new features such as Facebook integration and new paint effects. Experts are big fans of the smart brush, which allows users to make changes to specific parts of an image. However, reviewers say Photoshop Elements 10 isn't the best photo organizer. The organizational side of Elements is separate from the editing mode, which annoys reviewers who have to switch back and forth between modules. It's also not a huge upgrade from the previous version, so those with Photoshop Elements 9 shouldn't feel pressure to upgrade right away. Of course, Adobe Photoshop CS6 (Est. $700) is still deemed the best choice for professionals and serious hobbyists.

A number of technology reviewers evaluate the latest version of Adobe Photoshop Elements, including, MacLife and Britain's Which? magazine conducts independent tests on photo-editing software, although details are only available to subscribers. We also found a good selection of user reviews at
