Reports say that the LG 42PJ350 is a great value -- with good picture quality for its price -- though it won't compete on an equal footing with more expensive TVs. Not surprisingly, you won't find many features, but LG does equip this 42-inch TV with its signature array of picture adjustments and set-up aids, which are more comprehensive than those found in most high-end plasma TVs let alone a budget offering such as this. Black levels are good, though certainly no match for higher-end plasma TVs such as Panasonic's 42-inch TC-P42G25 (Discontinued). Color performance is also good, especially with HD material, though we also saw some complaints that things drop off a bit when watching standard-definition sources. Some issues with screen reflections are also noted.

We found some good feedback for the 42-inch LG 42PJ350 from a few professional reviewers, including ConsumerReports.org and PlasmaTVBuyingGuide.com. User reviews can be found at Amazon.com and Sears.com.

Our Sources

1. ConsumerReports.org

The 42-inch LG 42PJ350 is among the plasma TVs rated and reviewed by ConsumerReports.org. Discussion could be more in depth, but at least highs and lows are outlined and opinions are offered. However, the site's conclusions are only available to subscribers.

2. PlasmaTV Buying Guide.com

This somewhat technical evaluation of the 42-inch LG 42PJ350 is based on the site's hands-on testing of the 50-inch LG 50PJ350. There's lots of technical data here, though some of it will likely be incomprehensible to non-videophiles. Picture quality is not the best, especially when viewing standard-definition material, but is still called "decent." Screen glare is also criticized. Value, however, is praised.

3. Amazon.com

The 42-inch LG 42PJ350 is accumulating a good track record with owners posting at Amazon.com. Value, in particular, is what reviewers say sets the television apart from some other plasma TVs.

4. Sears.com

While there are far fewer reviews here than at Amazon.com, users seem nearly as satisfied thus far. Picture quality -- given the TV's price -- leads the parade of reasons why. One user, however, complains about a TV that failed shortly after purchase, another about a bad pixel, and a third just doesn't like the TV.
