This unit includes an extra hose to draw in outside air -- helpful when cooling a room that is hotter than the outdoor temperature -- plus standard features like an electronic control panel, a remote control and a humidifier-only feature. It exhausts water outside, so manual drainage is not required. Extras include boost, sleep, and smart fan modes, a timer and a built-in air purifier. Most owners seem to like this model, but some say it is noisy and the window insert is flimsy and hard to install. At 106 pounds, it's also heavier than most portable air conditioners. If you don't need the stylish design or extra features, consider the similarly sized but less expensive Sharp CV-P12LX (*Est. $680), which owners report is quieter than others.
