Best Portable DVD Players
by Jeff Bakalar
Our Assessment
Jeff Bakalar sums up CNET's recommendations for the best portable DVD players, including picks from Toshiba, Sony, Panasonic and Insignia. For the first time, a portable Blu-ray player makes his list, although Bakalar only recommends it for a narrow group of users. Each DVD player gets its own individual review and rating on a five-point scale.
Portable DVD Player Reviews
by Editors of TrustedReviews.com
Our Assessment
Britain's TrustedReviews.com has incredibly detailed tests of portable DVD players, and each player is rated on several criteria. Many of the DVD players reviewed are not available in the United States, but… versions of some -- such as the Sony DVP-FX930 and Toshiba SD-P71S -- are. Both of those players get relatively positive reviews, but don't quite score high enough to earn the site's Recommended award.

Portable DVD Players
by Contributors to Amazon.com
Our Assessment
Amazon.com is a top destination for reading user-written reviews of portable DVD players. Some players -- particularly older models -- attract lots of feedback. One downside is that many discontinued but… still available players are listed. Among current portable DVD players, the Sony DVP-FX930 and Panasonic DVD-LS86 receive high ratings after a decent amount of feedback. More than a hundred owners have commented on the budget-priced Coby TF-DVD7377, which scores just a bit lower.

Portable DVD Players
by Contributors to Walmart.com
Our Assessment
Walmart.com is a decent source for user reviews, but they offer fewer portable DVD players than Amazon.com. The Coby TF-DVD7377 gets high ratings from owners, and with over 40 reviews, it gets more individual reviews than any other portable DVD player on the site.

Best Portable DVD Players
by Editors of Good Housekeeping
Our Assessment
Good Housekeeping tests 14 portable DVD players for ease of use, battery life, attractiveness and portability. Individual reviews are reasonably detailed, but while the DVD players are ranked in descending order, we don't get to see each player's actual testing scores. Many of the players have been discontinued since this report was written, but some are still available at retail
Portable DVD Players
by Editors of PC World (Australia)
Our Assessment
The Australian edition of PC World only has three recent reviews of portable DVD players, but most are not available in the U.S. and none get higher than average ratings. Chris Jager says that the Panasonic DMP-B15 portable Blu-ray player is "simply too expensive to overlook its flaws."

Toshiba SDP93S DVD Player
by Adam Weinberg
Our Assessment
AskMen.com doesn't review many portable DVD players, but they have a reasonably detailed review of the Toshiba SDP93S. The review is based on testing, and the player is rated on uniqueness and shelf life. However, the ratings are not thoroughly explained and it's hard to understand what the numbers represent.
Top 5 Portable DVD Players
by Editors of TechRadar.com
Our Assessment
TechRadar.com tests a number of portable DVD players, rating each one on picture, sound, features, ease of use and value. The ratings are based on testing, and each DVD player has its own lengthy review.… While the reviews are great, most of the players reviewed are not available in the United States. However, a European version of Panasonic's DMP-B15 portable Blu-ray Disc player gets a good review.

DVD Players
by Editors of Pocket-lint.com
Our Assessment
Pocket-lint.com has some good reviews, but they've only covered a few portable DVD players recently and most are not available in the U.S. The Panasonic DMP-B15 does get a once over and scores highly. Jamie Carter says that for being the first portable Blu-ray player, "it's alarmingly close to perfection."
Portable DVD Player
by Contributors to Newegg.com
Our Assessment
Other than the Coby TF-DVD7377, few portable DVD players attract more than a handful of reviews at Newegg.com. The Coby portable DVD player gets fewer than 20 reviews, but owners give it an average rating of four (out of five).

by Contributors to Buzzillions.com
Our Assessment
Buzzillions.com compiles owner-written reviews from various retailers, and it features a good number of portable DVD player reviews. While many of the top-rated players have been discontinued, most are still available at retail and this is still a good source to check for future reviews.
Babble Best: Portable DVD Players
by Kate Bayless
Our Assessment
Kate Bayless tests five portable DVD players to find the best choice for car trips. However, the review is shorter on details -- including testing details -- than we like to see. While many of the players still have some availability at retail, most have been replaced by newer models.
