As part of Generac's GP series of portable generators, the Generac 5724 has passed the evaluation process required to earn a Good Housekeeping Seal. This means it is covered not only by Generac's two-year warranty, but also by a two-year refund-or-replace warranty from Good Housekeeping. The generator's 3,250 watts (3,750 surge watts) can run a refrigerator/freezer and several other appliances at the same time during a power outage. It has four AC outlets. If you want a smaller, lighter unit or plan to run sensitive electronics, you may want to consider the 2,000-watt Honeywell HW2000i (*Est. $500) portable inverter generator.

We found no expert reviews of the Generac 5724, but many, if not most, of its features are shared with other Generac GP Series generators, which have received excellent reviews. The Wisconsin-based Generac brand is considered one of the best. Owners rate and review this model at Northern Tool and Equipment and Amazon.com.
