No high pitched shrieking, just hissing, November 18, 2009
I bought this pressure cooker to replace an older / non-Fagor pressure cooker I owned. I couldn't use the old pressure cooker when anyone was around because when it came up to pressure it made a high pitched shrieking sound that was incredibly annoying.

When the new Fagor comes up to pressure, all you hear is a hiss. It also has a very heavy bottom and holds heat very well.
amazing!!!!, November 12, 2009

I didn't even know I wanted a pressure cooker until someone gave me this model as a wedding gift. MY LIFE IS CHANGED. Potatoes cook in 3 minutes. Delicious meals prepped and on the table within 10. This is the ultimate secret weapon for busy, working people who still love to cook! This book was given to me along with Great Vegetarian Cooking Under Pressure which has helped me put together plenty of delicious meals over the last month. My favorite was a thai coconut potato curry -- cooked in 6 minutes! Amazing!

Love my pressure cooker!!, November 12, 2009

I have a full-time job, am planning a wedding, and am full-time caregiver for an elderly relative. I saw a tv ad for a different line of pressure cookers and was intrigued. After doing some research online, I chose the Fagor cooker. I could not be happier with the results! I can now cook wonderful meals in a fraction of the time needed for traditional methods. The first try was to take a cut up fryer chicken, brown it (in the cooker), add 1/2 cup of wine and some potatoes and carrots, and cook it at high pressure for 15 minutes. IT WAS FANTASTIC! The meat was so moist and falling off the bone, and the veggies were just perfect. I have also used it to make brown rice in 20 minutes, and to steam veggies in 5 minutes or less. I am hooked, and plan to get a second, smaller one to cook rice while I am also cooking other things in the larger pot. Pressure cooking does take a little getting used to and I found I had to experiment with the burner settings and cooking times to get exactly the results I wanted. Also, I have an electric stove, which is a little trickier than using gas, but I easily adjusted by using the two-burner method (described in the owner's manual). Definitely READ the manual before using the cooker, even if you normally don't read instructions. In summary - if you take the time to learn how to pressure cook properly, and you want succulent food cooked very fast, you will LOVE this product.

I love it!, November 8, 2009

I had been delaying buying a pressure cooker because I was afraid it might hurt someone in my home. Then when I was seriously considering getting one for some cooking that specifically needed pressure, I chose Fagor for its stainless steel construct. For safety feature, I love that you could not unlock and open it unless pressure valve valve button is completely down (that ensures the pressures have equalized in and out). For cooking features, I love the thickness of the metal (heats evenly), the two pressure settings, and the easy pressure release setting. Now I wish I had bought the 5-piece combo that comes with a saucepan and a regular lid, because with the 8-qt pot I find it tiring on my arm if I had to sautee something first before pressure cooking, and the regular lid would have been perfect for when I add some tender veggies toward the end of cooking.

This pressure cooker is wonderful, easy to use and fast. It has great and comfortable design. Cooking is very fast, due to two levels of pressure.
