Minor problems, October 8, 2009

I borrowed a Karcher powered pressure washer from a friend to clean the siding on my house. I thought it was fantastic. After cleaning the siding I washed my vehicles, cleaned my concrete driveway and landscaping stone around my house. I ordered my own Karcher 2,600 PSI, Honda powered washer. When it arrived I noticed the inside of the cardboard box had oil soaked into it. I also noticed the machine itself had a lot of oil on it. I filled it with oil and gas per instructions in the owners manual and attempted to start the washer. It would not start. Having some mechanical knowledge, I inspected the air filter and observed it was soaked with oil. I removed the spark plug and noticed it had oil on it, so I pulled the starter rope to rotate the engine and noticed oil come out of the crankcase. I cleaned the spark plug and left the oil soaked air filter and cover off the washer. The washer started on the second pull. It seemed to operate fine, however, I will have to purchase a new air filter. I don't believe the problems I encountered are a manufacturing problem, but a shipping problem. I have yet to use my washer but after the experience I had with my frineds Karcher washer I feel it will be a good purchase.

Buy if you love throwing away your $$$, September 12, 2009

I too got this pressure washer through a hotel rewards program. When the unit arrived, I assembled it and tested it out. To my dismay the pump was surging and would not deliver solid pressure. I tried different water taps and verified the tips were clean. After taking the washer to a dealer, I had to wait 5 months to get a new pump in. During that time Karcher would not honor my warranty because I did not have a sales receipt. After I explained I got this through an awards clearing house and had the original shipping slip, they would still not honor my warranty claim. So, the point is: 1. Washer was broken out of the box. 2. Karcher tech support sucks (online only) 3. Ordering parts is a nightmare (most retailers listed on Karcher's web site have dropped the Karcher line all together) 4. Abysmal customer service Hopefully now I can find a Sears pressure washer that uses the same engine!

DO NOT BUY ANY KARCHER!!!, July 24, 2009
DO NOT BUY ANY KARCHER UNIT!!! THESE UNITS ARE POORLY MADE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CONTACT KARCHER DIRECTLY IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM. THE SERVICE CENTERS CAN CHARGE YOU WHAT EVER THEY WANT....EVEN IF THE UNIT IS UNDER WARRANTY. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!!
Beware: Packaging was awful for a $400 investment, May 25, 2009

We have only had our Karcher pressure washer for a few days so I will update on the machines performance after a longer period of time. However, buyers should be aware that the machine comes in a cardboard box - that's it.... no packaging materials, no bubble wrap - no protection whatsoever. The box was very beat up when it arrived. It's a heavy machine to be shipped in a simple box. We were lucky that nothing was broken. So far we are impressed with it's cleaning ability. We are using it on a concrete pool deck and patio furniture. More comments on durability and performance to follow after a longer ownership timeframe.

oily mess twice, May 17, 2009

I was let down. First order I open the box and found the plastic gas tank broken, no packing at all! oil was everywhere even though units are to be shipped with out oil. amazon was good, they had ups pick it up and send me another(no returns/ fine print). second unit had no packing at all and oil was everywhere but nothing broken. assembly was easy but could not get it started till i removed the air filter that was soaked in oil. i have to buy a new one. unit worked ok without it dont think i will buy expensive items through amazon any longer

1. PressureWashers Direct.com

In 2008, staff at this large online retailer recommended the Karcher G 2600 as one of the best residential gas-powered pressure washers -- good for pretty much all tasks. It gets mixed reviews from the few owners rating it here, and the newer Karcher G 2650 (*Est. $450) has replaced it as a recommended gas pressure washer for homeowners.

2. ConsumerReports.org

This review tests an older version of the Karcher G2600 against 14 other pressure washers, gas and electric. Editors use hands-on tests to rate each one for cleaning speed, ease of use and how well each can remove stains. Reliability isn't addressed.

3. Amazon.com

The handful of owners reviewing the Karcher G 2600 here give it mixed ratings. Owners say it's easy to assemble and use, and powerful enough for washing siding, but that repairs are costly and require taking it to a Karcher center.
