The Broan Allure III QS330 (also sold as the NuTone WS330) is among the most recommended range hoods on the Internet. Compared to most under-cabinet models, the Allure III is loaded with features, including boost mode, heat sensor, halogen lights, delayed shutoff and filter cleaning reminder. The QS330 is fairly quiet: on low speed, it produces just 0.4 sones (a sone is about as loud as a running refrigerator), and even on high, it produces only 4.5 sones. It also has a sleek curved-case design and a glossy finish, and it is just one of several widths and colors (including stainless steel) in the Allure III line. Most owners declare themselves satisfied with the QS330's performance, but professional tests have a different story to tell. In one test, this range hood was one of the least effective at removing smoke from the air, despite its fairly powerful 300-cubic-feet-per-minute (CFM) blower. In light of these mixed reviews and its relatively high price tag, this range hood is probably not the best choice for most users. The Kenmore 5234 (*Est. $145) isn't as stylish, but it performs very well and is more than $150 cheaper.
