Kenmore 50303

Most wall-mounted range hoods are more powerful than the Kenmore 50303 (rated at 270 cubic feet per minute), but this model performs better under real-world conditions than high-CFM range hoods that cost twice as much. It's also inexpensive for this type of range hood and surprisingly stylish, with a stainless-steel finish and pyramid-shaped canopy. The matching telescopic chimney is included, which isn't always the case for wall-mounted models. One downside is its limited feature set. The Kenmore has incandescent rather than halogen lighting and doesn't include a heat sensor or delayed shutoff. If you'd rather not spend nearly $600 on a new range hood, under-cabinet models like the Kenmore 52340 (*Est. $200) offer similar performance.

The Kenmore 50303 is one of several wall-mounted range hoods included in ConsumerReports.org's 2006 review of range hoods. This report is a few years old but still useful because the selection of range hoods changes very little from year to year.
