March 2009. The Electrolux EW30EF65GS electric smoothtop range is a top performer in two separate professional tests, and the few owner reviews we found for it are almost entirely positive. According to Good Housekeeping magazine, the Electrolux broils steaks "worthy of an outdoor grill" and bakes, simmers and boils equally well. This oven has numerous high-end features, including a warming drawer that also functions as a second small oven, baking food at up to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. The main oven has a convection feature and is self-cleaning. Pre-programmed settings like the "perfect turkey" mode simplify cooking, and three of the burners can be expanded to fit several pan sizes. Lastly, this electric range has a sleek modern stainless-steel design. If you don't want to spend so much, a more basic smoothtop range is the Kenmore 96112 (*est. $530).

We found recent professional tests of the Electrolux EW30EF65GS at both Consumer Reports and Good Housekeeping magazines. This electric smoothtop range also receives a Best Buy award at Consumer Guide, and there are a few owner reviews at Sears.com.
