March 2009. The Frigidaire Gallery GLGF386DS provides more features, including a convection oven and central burner, than most gas ranges in its price range. It also has a large, well-lit oven window and self-cleaning oven, but no warming drawer. The oven and cooktop performed well in one professional test, but the broiler receives only an average performance score. Owners posting reviews like the extra features included, and we saw fewer durability complaints for this brand than for others. Some owners say that while the continuous grates are easy to clean, the cooktop surface is not. If you don't need a convection oven and can live with a more basic-looking range, consider the les expensive Hotpoint RGB745WEHWW (*est. $500).

The best review we found for the Frigidaire Gallery gas range is at Consumer Reports. We also found user reviews for this range at AJMadison.com and Epinions, and J.D. Power and Associates includes Frigidaire in their annual customer satisfaction survey.

2. J.D. Power and Associates

About 15,000 users participated in a survey about major home appliances. No individual models are rated, so this report is helpful only for getting an idea of broad brand satisfaction. Frigidaire gets above average scores in ease of use, performance, and styling and feel, and is rated better than most in overall customer satisfaction. It rates among the best in price.

4. Epinions.com
