Experts say that although you can spend thousands on a gas range, the GE Profile models have an excellent blend of style, features and performance. Experts say that even cheaper ranges cook food well – the key upgrades are cleaning ease and aesthetics. The GE Profile JGBP85DEMWW's oven is self-cleaning, and one key upgrade is the cooktop – four sealed burners and a continuous cast-iron grate make cleanup easier. The JGBP85DEMWW is 30 inches wide, and it has a warming drawer as well as a 12-hour automatic shutoff. It comes in white, black and bisque with stainless steel available for about $200 more. Among cheaper ranges, the Hotpoint RGB745WEHWW (*est. $530) is top-rated.

Consumer Reports magazine has the only extensive reviews. Results of a survey by J.D. Power and Associates show good general information on brand satisfaction but not of specific models. Popular Mechanics magazine touts GE Profile models in general, but there's no indication of testing.
