Hotpoint RGB745WEHWW

Pros
  • Good value
  • Easy to clean
  • Good performance
  • Continuous grates
Cons
  • Small oven window
  • No warming drawer
  • Not available in stainless steel

The Hotpoint RGB745WEHWW has been discontinued, but Hotpoint has released a similar range in the Hotpoint RGB745DEPWH (*Est. $475). Hotpoint ranges generally get decent ratings in a major owner-satisfaction survey, and the Hotpoint RGB745WEHWW offers some key features found in 30-inch gas ranges costing almost twice as much. The Hotpoint RGB745WEHWW's oven is self-cleaning, and one key upgrade is the cooktop -- heavy steel grates and four sealed burners ease cleanup. It has the same one-year warranty as most ranges. In reviews, owners say the oven window is small, and a stainless steel finish isn't an option, so it's not as modern in appearance as more expensive ranges. The Hotpoint RGB745WEHWW lacks some features (like a warming drawer and oval burner) contained in pricier ranges.

ConsumerReports.org and Good Housekeeping include the inexpensive Hotpoint gas range in comparison testing. Results of a survey by J.D. Power and Associates show good general information on brand satisfaction, but no specific models are rated.

Our Sources

1. Good Housekeeping

Eleven gas ranges are tested by Good Housekeeping editors. Each model gets a brief editorial review that refers to hands-on testing, and all models are ranked in order of performance. Although the Hotpoint RGB745WEHWW finished in last place, it's the least expensive range in the test by a good $400, and editors compliment its overall performance. The small oven window and "creaky" door are criticized.

3. J.D. Power and Associates

About 15,000 users participated in a survey about kitchen appliances. No individual models are rated, so this report is helpful only for getting an idea of broad brand satisfaction. Hotpoint gets mostly below-average scores except for price, which is among the best.
