Basic smoothtop electric range
- Good performance
- Self-cleaning
- Adjustable burner
- Easy to clean
- Limited features
- Spills can enter oven door
March 2009. The Kenmore 96112 is a relatively basic smoothtop electric range that doesn't have as many features as more expensive ranges, but it performs well in professional tests. Owners say this range works well, and the self-cleaning function is effective. But some owners say that spills can get between the glass panels on the oven door, creating a difficult-to-clean mess. Be careful if you are considering upgrading to the more feature-rich version of this range, the Kenmore 96412 (*est. $800) -- it receives many owner complaints. The Kenmore is a smoothtop range. Another inexpensive option is to go for a coil-top range. This style doesn't look as modern, but reviewers say the Hotpoint RB757WHWW (*est. $400) performs perfectly well.
The best review for the Kenmore 96112 smoothtop range is at Consumer Reports, which also includes owner reviews for this model. We also found quite a few owner reviews at Sears.com, and the Kenmore brand is included in the most recent J.D. Powers survey on owner satisfaction.
