Dual-fuel ranges combine the accuracy and precision of a gas cooktop with the even baking performance of an electric oven. While these ranges are expensive, some serious cooks prefer them because they combine the best parts of gas and electric ranges. The Kenmore Elite 75603 gets good feedback from owners who say it bakes and broils well, thanks to the convection oven, which circulates hot air to improve browning and quicken cooking time. They also say they like its sleek stainless-steel finish.
One unusual feature of this range is its double oven -- a main 3.7-cubic-foot oven and a side oven with a capacity of 1.7 cubic feet. This is useful for cooking dishes at separate temperatures, but it makes the range much wider than normal (40 inches rather than 30). Some owners say this double configuration limits the capacity in both ovens, especially the side oven, which cannot hold a full-size baking dish. If you don't need a dual-fuel range, the electric Electrolux EW30EF65GS (*Est. $2,300) and gas GE Profile PGB910SEMSS also get good reviews.
The Kenmore Elite 75603 hasn't been included in any professional tests, but we found a good number of user reviews at Sears.com and Viewpoints.com. The recent range survey conducted by J.D. Power and Associates is also useful for gauging overall satisfaction with the Kenmore Elite brand.
