The Maytag MET8885XS does not have as many features as the top-rated Electrolux EW30EF65GS (*Est. $2,300), but it does have one that the Electrolux lacks: a true double oven. The lower oven has a capacity of 4.2 feet and includes a convection feature; the small upper oven measures 2.5 cubic feet. Both are self-cleaning. The cooktop has five heating elements with a variety of power settings, including a 3,200-watt speed burner, which users say really gets things cooking in a hurry.
In professional tests, the Maytag excels at baking and boiling, but its broiling performance isn't great, and one source finds that the burners heat unevenly. Owners praise this range's performance, features and large total capacity, but they also cite a couple of drawbacks -- the convection fan can be loud, and the smooth cooktop is hard to clean. One advantage of the Maytag range is its warranty, which covers the whole appliance for one year and the cooktop and heating elements for a full 10 years.
