The Samsung FE-R300SX gets reasonably good ratings in professional tests, and it gets very good feedback from users. Professional reviewers praise its baking, boiling and simmering abilities, though they say its broiling performance could be better. The smooth cooktop has four embedded heating elements, and the huge 5.9-cubic-foot oven provides five oven rack positions. Also, unlike many low-end ranges, the Samsung FE-R300SX has a stainless-steel finish, though it also comes in basic white and black. However, it does not include many features found on higher-priced ranges, such as a convection oven and a warming drawer. Users praise this range's performance, but some of them complain about its durability. In addition to complaints about how easily the cooktop scratches (a common problem with smoothtop ranges), we saw a few reports of oven malfunctions that occurred within a couple of weeks after purchase. If you want more luxury features, and your budget allows it, consider upgrading to the Electrolux EW30EF65GS (*Est. $2,300).
