Viking VDSC530-4BSS

The Viking VDSC530-4BSS is a dual-fuel range with a sturdy, industrial design. It has a large convection oven and four burners but no warming drawer (or storage drawer). Larger (36- and 48-inch) versions of this range are also available and can be customized with different burner arrangements. All versions are available in stainless-steel and 23 colored finishes, ranging from plum to bright red to iridescent blue. However, tests of this range's actual performance are mixed. Professional sources agree that this range broils and simmers well, but one source praises the "even heating" of its oven while another finds the oven performance no better than average. Although Good Housekeeping names this range as a "splurge pick," this recommendation seems to be based largely on the Viking's solid construction and impressive looks. For great performance at less than half the price, you'll likely be better off with the Bosch HDS7282U (*Est. $2,075).

The Viking VDSC530-4BSS was tested by both ConsumerReports.org and Good Housekeeping, and it receives a Best Buy award from ConsumerGuide.com. We didn't find enough owner reviews of this model to form a clear picture, however.
