The LG LFX25976SW French-door refrigerator is more expensive than a standard top-freezer model, but it offers a lot of features for the money. In addition to its through-the-door ice and water dispenser -- which is built into the door to save fridge space -- it includes electronic controls, LED lighting, a door alarm and lots of storage options in its 24.7 cubic feet. It's also Energy Star-rated, and professional testers give it excellent scores for temperature control and quietness. Users love the ice maker's space-saving design, but hate its limited ice production and tendency to clog if it isn't used regularly. They also find the water dispenser counterintuitive, with nearly all owners spraying themselves the first time they use it. We saw few reports of mechanical problems with this fridge, although a couple of users say one of the door bins can come tumbling down without warning.
This refrigerator comes in white, black and stainless steel; the warranty covers the sealed system for seven years and all other components for one. If you aren't willing to spend more than $2,000 for a refrigerator, the LG LDC22720SW (*Est. $1,400) offers the convenience of a bottom-freezer configuration with fewer features and a lower price tag.
The LFX25976SW is included in professional tests at ConsumerReports.org, and more than 130 users post reviews at AJMadison.com and HomeDepot.com. The annual appliance survey conducted by J.D. Power and Associates gives users' opinions of the LG brand as a whole.
