We located a single professional review of the Sanyo ECJ-D100S in the Los Angeles Times. We appreciate the fact that testers prepared medium-grain, jasmine and brown rice, as well as vegetables, in this cooker. We wish the Times had also tested this cooker's ability to braise meat and make soup.
We found the large-capacity Sanyo ECJ-D100S rice cooker gets the best reviews for large families. Unlike the more expensive Zojirushi Neuro (*est. $180), the Sanyo cooker has a steamer basket, a thick titanium base (which helps prevent rice from forming a crust) and a slow-cook setting for soups and braised meats. Reviews say that white and sushi rice cooked in the Sanyo ECJ-D100S come out moist and fluffy but that brown rice can come out slightly undercooked. Reviewers say this model takes longer to cook than basic models (60 minutes for jasmine rice and 90 minutes for brown). Most owners are pleased with this cooker's performance, but a few wish for a shorter cooking cycle. If you plan to cook brown rice frequently, reviews say that the Zojirushi Neuro is a better choice than the Sanyo, but it doesn't make as much rice.

Judy Yao and her colleagues test six rice cookers, three of which use fuzzy logic. The Sanyo ECJ-D100S is the first runner-up to two Zojirushi models, which did a better job with more types of rice and tied for first. The Sanyo cooker has some features the winners lack.
