Like many other consumer products, road bikes are subject to federal safety standards and can be recalled if they fail to meet them. Fortunately, none of the bikes mentioned in this report have been recalled recently. Yet new recalls are announced all the time, so it's a good idea to check the Consumer Product Safety Commission's website for the latest recall information, especially if you plan to buy a used road bike.
