Reviewers say the Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick Roaster Set is a standout among nonstick roasting pans. According to one foodie magazine, this hard-anodized aluminum pan roasts meat and potatoes as well as the more expensive Calphalon Contemporary Stainless Roaster with V Rack (*Est. $130). Owners say it browns evenly and makes great sauces on the stovetop. A few drawbacks: The dark-colored interior makes it harder to judge whether gravy is burning, and the hard-anodized exterior, although durable, makes the pan heftier than stainless steel.
Reviews say nothing sticks to the nonstick coating, which is applied to the interior in three layers. However, the manufacturer warns against using it above 450 degrees Fahrenheit or cleaning it in the dishwasher. This roasting pan set includes a nonstick rack, two turkey lifters and an injection baster. Calphalon covers this roaster with a lifetime warranty.
Cook's Illustrated magazine includes the Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick Roaster Set in its comparison of stainless-steel and nonstick roasting pans. We found several hundred owner-written reviews at Cooking.com, and a smaller number of reviews posted at the manufacturer's website and Amazon.com.

1. Cook's Illustrated Magazine
Editors at Cook's Illustrated magazine compare their two favorite stainless-steel roasting pans to nonstick versions made by the same manufacturers. Although the Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick Roaster Set isn't specifically mentioned, we can assume it was used in the comparison, because the Calphalon Contemporary Stainless Roaster is a Cook's Illustrated editors' favorite. The nonstick pans perform as well as the stainless steel at searing chicken and beef on the stovetop and then browning the meat and potatoes in the oven. However, editors say the dark color of the nonstick coating makes it more difficult to make gravy on the stovetop without burning it.
