The New Balance 902 has been discontinued; a newer version, the New Balance 905 (*Est. $105) is now available. Reviewers say the New Balance 902 is a versatile, lightweight running shoe for those with normal arches and gaits. These offer enough support for training and are lightweight enough for long-distance races, unless you're at an elite level. New Balance lists the weight of the 902 as 10.2 ounces for men and 8.3 ounces for women's sizes. Not everyone will like the colors -- bright orange for men and sky blue for women.
We found the best reviews at Runner's World magazine, which rates the New Balance 902 based on a month's use by multiple testers. Owners can also comment on running shoes. Outside magazine has brief but credible coverage of the New Balance 902, and we found some helpful owner comments on Epinions.com. ShoeGuide.co.uk offers succinct running-shoe reviews; almost all major shoes are covered, there is an overall numerical score for each and charts advise suitability for various conditions.
