The Canon CanoScan LiDE 110 is an affordable flatbed scanner designed for those who do not want to scan film or slides. It weighs 3.5 pounds and is powered through the USB drive, and many users report taking this small flatbed scanner on the road with their laptop computers. The LiDE 110 gets an Editors' Choice from PCMag.com, where M. David Stone says the 2400 dpi optical resolution produces "reasonably high" scan quality. In tests, Stone says that the photo restore feature worked particularly well in restoring faded colors to old photos. The scanner has limited bundled software but does include an optical character recognition (OCR) application that allows for converting scans to searchable PDF documents. Stone says the OCR software performed accurately in his tests.
