Though it lacks the features and design innovations of more expensive scanners models, experts like Epson's Perfection V200 Photo flatbed scanner as a good value. Reviews indicate that this entry-level Epson delivers outstanding scan quality and it's easy to use. When compared to other scanners in the same price range, the V200 offers a similar feature set but leads the pack when it comes to speed (though it can't compete with more expensive scanners). The more expensive Canon CanoScan 8800F (*Est. $170) is faster and has a greater range of scan options and a stronger software package. The V200 has been replaced by the well-reviewed Epson Perfection V300 Photo (*Est. $95).
PC World and IT Reviews both offer expert opinions on the Epson Perfection V200 flatbed scanner. PC World's article -- though shorter -- is more useful. IT Reviews delivers a nice summary of the V200's features but careful reading will call into question whether the editors have actually used the V200. Contributors to Newegg.com balance the experts' opinions.

This brief review focuses on speed, output quality and features. The Epson scanner earns high scores for image quality and speed considering its price, but wobbles on creating PDFs.
