very pleased with this scanner, October 4, 2009My first scanner, December 23, 2008I bought this scanner primarily to scan old photos, negatives and slides into digital format. It does a pretty decent job on all three formats. It seems to be a bit slow but since this is my first scanner,… what do I know??? It will also scan documents into .jpg's, bitmaps or pfd pictures - in pdf you can make multiple pic files. It also came with software that will recognize printed text and spreadsheets and convert them into Word or Excel files - works fairly well but is a bit cumbersome. Since I've had it I've been converting many of my paper files to digital and going paperless - mainly into pdf files. All in all, this is a pretty good scanner for what I needed it for.
