Does amazing job, December 18, 2009
Quickly and reliably scans multiple pages. Occasionally has some hick-ups, but as good as modern technology allows.

As far as ease of use, I rated a 4 because sometimes the scan button stops working after I scan a lot of items, and I need to reboot my PC, but that may be a PC configuration issue. Generally very good product, I'd buy again.
What a great little scanner!, December 6, 2009
After one year of almost daily use in a busy office, this great little scanner has performed flawlessly. We've scanned thousands of multi-page documents. It'll skip blank pages, scan two-sided documents in one pass, tells you if it didn't find anything to scan, and quickly produces a pdf of your documents. It's small, light, fast, quiet, dependable, and a snap to use.

Busily scanning in a medical office for over a year, November 24, 2009

This scanner has been busily scanning thousands, yes thousands, of insurance EOB's onto a server for permanent archiving instead of saving assorted size papers. It has been wonderful to use and very few problems. I probably scan about 100-200 pieces/day with it. It doesn't do ID cards very well so I have a fi-6130 waiting in the wings to be installed for front desk insurance and ID card scanning. The carrier sheet that came with it almost 2 years ago is still going strong but a little marked up with ink from making notes on receipts before scanning. I do wish there were an easier way to switch between color scanning (business receipts, copies of statements with stamps, etc.) and B/W with OCR for searchable archiving of PDF's. I'm anxious to order an S1500 and see how it performs compared to this workhorse.

Excellent Scanner - no WINDOWS 7 support caught me off guard, November 15, 2009
I have tons of peripheral products and upgraded to Windows 7 32bit Ultimate and was surprised there is no support. This thing is a boat anchor now. Oh well, I guess I'll use my old Epson scanner for a while. It is three years old, but Epson was nice enough to patch together a W7 driver for it. Come on Fujitsu!
No driver support for OS 10.6 and Win 7 !, November 5, 2009

I have both the Mac and Win version of this scanner. As of 11-05-09 there is still no driver for Mac OS 10.6. This is critical since major functionality is compromised. Fujitsu's advice: "Reinstall OS 10.5." Incredible. As of this same date there is still no driver for Win7 either. Is this company brain dead?? If you are using Mac OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard) do not buy this scanner. Same for Win 7.

1. Macworld

Joe Kissell's review covers all major points but compares the Fujitsu ScanSnap S510M (the Mac version of the scanner) only to the previous three versions of itself. That said, Macworld gives the ScanSnap S510M 4.5 out of five "mice." Kissell is also impressed with the bundled software, which he says "alone is worth far more than the scanner itself."
