Our AssessmentThis sewing site rounds up reader-contributed reviews, and there are thousands, most of which are more detailed and critical than the reviews found at other consumer-review sites. Contributors range from absolute beginners to those who consider themselves professional seamstresses. Some users even go back on the site after months of using a machine to follow up with their long-term experiences.

Our AssessmentTraditional online retail sites aren't as good a resource for sergers as for other products, because some of the top serger brands are sold only by authorized retailers or in physical stores. However, Amazon.com has a large number of reviews for serger brands that are commonly sold online, such as Brother, Singer, Juki and Janome. These tend to be less-expensive models, so this is a particularly good resource for finding quality, budget-priced machines.

Our AssessmentLike Amazon.com, Walmart.com has a good number of reviews for the top, less-expensive sergers, primarily Brother and Singer. Reviews tend to be thorough and very informative, and the product information is detailed. The Brother 1034D Serger is the top-selling and top-reviewed machine on this site.

Our AssessmentThere aren't nearly as many serger reviews at this opinion site than at either Amazon.com or Walmart.com, but it can be helpful when a particular product has a decent number of reviews. Some of the reviews are older, but there have not been significant changes to the machines with the most reviews.
