Singer Quantum XL-6000

Pros
  • "Endless" automatic bobbin winder
  • Cuts and knots threads automatically
  • Automatic thread exchange
  • Great selection of built-in embroidery patterns
  • Easy-to-read, color touch screen
  • Internet hook-up
Cons
  • No piecing foot

  • Difficulties with automatic bobbin winder
  • Learning curve

The Singer Quantum XL-6000 is a fully automated sewing machine, with more add-on features for embroiderers than other machines in its class. While even basic machines often have some automatic features, such as an automatic threader, the Quantum boasts an automatic thread exchange that allows you to switch colors without rethreading and an automatic bobbin winder that winds as you sew. Thread cutting and knotting are also automatic. While users love these features, a few reviews report that things don't always work perfectly. The Quantum XL-6000 has a continuous hoop and comes with 3,900 designs (on a CD) and four alphabets, as well as script embroidery fonts. If that isn't enough, you can hook the machine up to the Internet and download more. The walking foot on this machine is an attachment.

Reviewers from experienced sewers produced consensus about the Singer Quantum XL-6000 as an impressive, featured-packed sewing machine with some bugs. We found one professional test of a Singer Quantum machine, though it's of an earlier version.
