The 12-gallon Shop-Vac 925-63-10 shop vac is a budget version of more expensive pro-level shop vacs designed to collect sawdust from portable sanders and other small power tools. It comes with an 8-amp outlet, turning itself on and off with any tool plugged into it. This is the least expensive shop vac with this feature, but the 10-gallon Porter-Cable 7812 (*est. $270) gets much better reviews. Both shop vacs carry a one-year warranty, but the Porter-Cable can collect dust from tools up to 15 amps (on a 20-amp circuit).

Woodworker Chris Kulczycki puts nine relatively inexpensive shop vacs through torture tests in a workshop environment, sucking up nails, siphoning a bucket of water and cleaning up fine dust. The author likes the tool caddy on the Shop-Vac 925-63-10, but it's the only model that couldn't empty the bucket of nails, screws and similar hardware, because the hose tends to accumulate debris in its bends.
