Considered a classic, Klean Kanteen makes one of the most respected stainless-steel bottles for kids or adults. The Kid Kanteen 12-ounce bottle can be outfitted with sport lids, sippy lids, or ring tops and the indestructible bottles will outlast childhood. They're versatile, easy to clean and won't leave odors or residues behind.
Cleans up without a trace of odor or residue. The Kid Kanteen bottle is dishwasher-safe and when more thorough scrubbing is warranted can be cleaned easily with a bottle brush. The pure stainless interior means that odors and residues will never adhere to this bottle -- even forgotten bottles that have bred a micro climate of bacteria can be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized.
The 12-ounce and larger cups have a wide enough mouth to accept ice cubes, but that is narrow enough for comfortable drinking without a lid. The kid bottle can be used with a sippy cup spout or a sport spout that most parents say doesn't leak or only leaks minimally. The bottle's curved edges and ridged neck are described as easy for little hands to hold.
A water bottle for life. Klean Kanteen bottles are known to be super durable -- only showing age from an aesthetic standpoint -- but never compromising actual bottle integrity. Some users complain that the painted bottles chip or dent, but those are few and far between. The bottles carry a lifetime warranty against cracks or fractures.
The sippy and sport lids for kids are made of BPA-free polypropylene (PP #5) that can stand up to a certain level of chewing and exposure without degrading. The lids are all replaceable and interchangeable.
A "kid" bottle that doesn't look like a kid bottle. Experts and parents agree that of the stainless-steel bottles marketed for kids, Kid Kanteen is among the best. The interior is constructed with smooth, rounded sides that protect against any bacteria buildup. The bottle threads are made with stainless steel so that plastics are minimized. For those who want to eliminate all plastics altogether, Kid Kanteen offers a stainless-steel loop cap for use with adult-sized bottles (18, 27 and 40 ounces).
The only substantive difference between the Kid Kanteen bottle and Klean Kanteen adult bottle is size. The bottle doesn't carry hallmark traits of babyish sippy cups that growing children are likely to reject over time. The interchangeability of the lids also adds to the bottle's long-term utility. The 12-ounce bottle carries enough water for most kid adventures to school and back. If you want more capacity, the 18-ounce bottle with sport cap is another kid-friendly option.
The rounded sides of the Kid Kanteen bottles allow it to fit nicely into bags and cup holders. If you want an absolutely leakproof performance, the ring-top lid is advised. The only complaint the Klean Kanteen draws is its propensity to sweat and transfer cold or hot to the outside of the bottle. An optional bottle sleeve can remedy this issue.
