The Nuk Learner Cup has a wide, soft silicone or rubber spout that mimics the feel of a bottle for easier transitioning to cup feeding. Used successfully by infants as young as 4 months old, the Learner is also described as a good option for babies who breastfeed. One big potential problem: The soft spout can be chewed off by babies with teeth, which limits its safe useable lifespan.
Simple, but not altogether leakproof design. The Nuk Learner Cup has a relatively simple design that makes cleaning it easier. The soft silicone spout is almost leakproof without requiring any extra gaskets or valves to assemble and clean. While parents and reviewers say the cup doesn't leak when shaken or laid on its side, it will leak if banged on the table or turned upside down and squeezed from the nipple.
The handles mount from the bottom and can be turned to adjust for the baby's drinking position. Parents also say that the chubby handles are easy for the baby to hold. Many parents say that their very young (4 to 6 month) babies can drink from this cup, but at least one expert tester says that drinking from this cup is not very easy. The child must bite down on the spout to get the fluid to flow.
The spout can be chewed off by teethers. Parents say the bottle of the Nuk Learner Cup is highly durable, but the spout is more prone to issues. Teething babies and toddlers can chew through the soft spout, which not only destroys the spout, which is not replaceable, but can cause a choking hazard. More than one parent warns not to use this cup with a baby who has teeth.
Parents who have already been using Nuk bottles can put the Learner sippy lid on their bottles or put their bottle lids and nipples on the Learner cup, making this cup last from babyhood to late toddlerhood.
Super-soft spout closely mimics a bottle. The Nuk Learner Cup has a very soft and wide silicone or latex spout that reviewers and parents say closely resembles a bottle for easier transitioning. The lightweight cup holds just 5 ounces of liquid, which is good for babies but may not be enough for toddlers. The Learner handles mount from the bottom, so it will be hard to get this cup to fit in a cup holder if you have them on. Luckily they are removable. The compact cup comes with a cap so that you can carry it in a diaper bag or purse. The Learner cups come in a variety of baby-friendly designs that include Winnie the Pooh and Hello Kitty. Materials are all BPA-free.

Review Credibility: Very Good With classic thoroughness, Hollie Schultz puts 10 popular sippy cups through their paces -- testing them for how easy they are to suck and for leaking -- upside down, shaken, banged on the table and tilted on their sides. She even tests to see if the cups can be "milked" -- squeezed by a toddler in the upside-down position to release lots of liquid. Though the Nuk Learner is not her top pick she says that it is easy to clean and doesn't leak when shaken. However she says it is not the easiest to drink from.
