Get a First Alert alarm instead--, August 1, 2009
The fire alarm instructions don't tell you that you need a drill, screwdriver, hammer. Nor do they explain the little plastic screw anchors that come with the unit. Get a "First Alert" alarm instead--they are better made. An alarm with shoddy instructions was probably built sloppily.
Screw heads break off, July 1, 2009

These smoke alarms looked like a good buy, but when we tried to install them (using a manual screwdriver), the screw heads broke off in our ceiling, leaving the shanks embedded in the wood. We removed them with pliers (with some difficulty) and then installed the alarms with new screws of our own. The poor qualilty of the screws caused us an unreasonable amount of extra work and frustration. We have not had the alrarms long enough to comment on their longevity.

Great little alarm at a fantastic price, November 25, 2008
I wanted to install some extra smoke alarms in my law office and bought 3 of these. They are perfect. About 4 inches in diameter, they were easy to install and are not even noticed by visitors. Each tests fine and I sleep better at night with the extra protection. Great value at under $8 each. 5 stars. Will likely buy more
Smoke alarm, May 8, 2008
I like the smaller size. Nice compact piece of equipment. I can't review how well it works, which is actually a good thing, as it means I haven't needed to use it!! I purchased several of these for my home and my rental property.

Good price.
Gets the job done, March 9, 2008
Not much to say for an economical detector. It has no frills, but its cheap price allows you to install more than would otherwise be the case. My advice is be sure you can easily get at them because when it goes off, you have to take out the battery to stop it. It will go off at the scent of smoke, so be ready for false alarms -- installation location is critical to your sanity.
