Experts say the Bradley Original Smoker is one of the easiest-to-use outdoor smokers available. It's powered by electricity and instead of wood chips, it burns discs of compressed wood, or bisquettes, which are automatically fed onto the burner. The Bradley Original Smoker can hot- or cold-smoke, slow-cook, or roast food, and according to About.com's Derrick Riches, it can run for up to eight hours "without human intervention." Its four cooking racks accommodate a large volume of food, so you can cook for a crowd. The main downside, reviewers say, is that you have to buy Bradley's bisquettes, which cost 30 to 40 cents each; each burns for about 20 minutes. If you want an easy-to-use smoker that costs less to buy and operate, the Brinkmann Vertical Gas Smoker (*Est. $150) gets good reviews from experts and users.
Derrick Riches, About.com's guide to barbecues and grilling, lists the Bradley Original as one of the top 10 smokers for under $400, and gives it a full review. We also found close to 90 owner reviews at Amazon.com, most of which are positive, as well as about 120 at Cabelas.com and close to 30 at Buzzillions.com.

1. About.com
About.com's Derrick Riches rates the Bradley Original 4 out of 5 stars and says that it's the best electric smoker available. He especially likes how easy it is to use; he says you can just put the food in, set the thermostat, add the bisquettes and forget about it until the food is done. The only negative he notes is that you must buy Bradley's proprietary bisquettes. Overall, he concludes, "This is the perfect appliance for someone who just doesn't have the time, patience or space to do it the old fashioned way." About 120 owners rate and review the Bradley Original Smoker here, giving it an excellent rating. One recent reviewer gives it a perfect score and writes, "The smoker works great. I can now make great ribs in about 6 hours and Chicken breast in 2 1/2 hours. Only used 4-5 smoking bisquettes. My favorite flavor is Mesquite. Very simple to use. Racks and heat diffuser cleanup is a little messy, but worth it."
