The Toro Power Clear 621 QZE is relatively new on the market and gets few owner reviews, but experts say it's one of the best single-stage gas snow blowers you can buy. With a clearing path of 21 inches and an intake height of 12.5 inches, it can handle up to 10 inches or so of dry snow and is best used to clear medium-sized hard surfaces. The 621 QZR (*Est. $650) is identical, but without an electric starter. If you want to spend less for a single-stage blower and don't mind dealing with a cord, the electric Toro 1800 Power Curve (Â *Est. $300) is recommended by experts.
No extras, but ease of operation very good
The Toro Power Clear 621 QZE lacks features such as heated handgrips, a headlight and single-hand operation, but reviewers say it's still quite easy to handle. It weighs only about 85 pounds and is self-propelled, thanks to Toro's power propel system. It's small enough to store easily, and its 163cc four-cycle OHV engine needs only routine maintenance. A joystick lets you change the direction of the chute, although you have to stop the blower and adjust the deflector manually. As a single-stage blower, it shouldn't be used on gravel or other rough surfaces. Hearing protection is recommended.

Experts say the Toro Power Clear 621 QZE excels at clearing snow quickly; one says it can even handle 3 or 4 inches of wet, heavy snow pretty easily.
